Well...pie, apparently.
My Father-in-law keeps a lot of chickens and he has been plagued by a huge amount of starlings eating his chicken feed which is not cheep! (puns aplenty - ha!) So he is going to shoot them with his air rifle. I'm not sure if I'm entirely happy with his idea but he seems set that this is the only thing that will do. I thought that you might be able to eat the things. After a little bit of searching I found that the US Government in 1930 issues a book of recipes for Starlings in a bit to encourage the populace to eat the things. Here's one:
"Fry some chopped turnips and carrots. Add a little stock and a glass of red wine. Place some starlings or other small birds in the pan. Add a thin purée of boiled potatoes mashed with beaten eggs, dry mustard, and some stock and a little beer. Cover with stock and cook for about 30 minutes, adding some ripe olives near the end."
Sounds Yummy!
Anyway, I'm not sure anyone else is convinced this is a good idea. Someone said they were vermin and were probably full of germs but these guys have had a steady diet of Layers Pellets and are probably healthy birds.
Any thoughts anyone?

You are right, that recipe sounds yummy.
I would try eating just a bite or two first, just to see if you feel nauseous afterwards. T
Pluck them, gut them, wash them thoroughly and there won't be much left that could be a source of disease! Then cook them, which will kill pretty much anything that is left. As long as the meat smells good, and tastes good, it is good!
(Says the vegetarian...)
